So. Welcome to my life in a minute #2 – an idea that I stole from Lizzie @ tablecloths and talking). It’s kind of like a quick catchup over a cup of coffee. Or even better, a glass of wine. Continue reading

Don’t you just love it when something completely unexpected and lovely happens to you and it just makes your week? Last night I was making a quick stop into my boyfriend Dan Murphy’s place on my way home when totally out of the blue I ran into an old, old friend (not literally) Continue reading
So. My first little foray back into the catering world in many years is all of a sudden upon me this weekend. Eeek! But I did some more menu testing last weekend, and I’ve finally got a menu that I’m feeling pretty comfortable with. Phew.
With the help of my fabulous sister Jess (as well as Mum, Em, Levi & Benno as willing guinea pigs) on Friday night we tested out an entrée and a main course dish, both of which turned out pretty well – although some of it was a bit trial and error as we were trying to re-create a recipe from one of Jess’s favourite restaurants on the coast (Rojo Rocket). Happy Friday everyone! Yes, this is once again a lazy girl’s blog post – but in my defence the post in question is written by one of my very best girlfriends and I was actually at the event she’s writing about so you know…whatever. Plus, I haven’t got a hope of writing a better review of the play that we went to a couple of weeks ago, so I feel that it is my duty to be the sharer of her insights with you rather than attempting to write my own. CLICK HERE to read Shaggy’s review of a very saucy and highly entertaining play. Enjoy!
So. A few months ago one of my best girlfriends asked me how I would feel about doing some catering for a dinner party she was throwing for the 10th wedding anniversary of some friends of hers. I didn’t have to think about it twice – of course I would love to do that – I’m always on the lookout for a creative outlet, especially seeing as I spend my waking hours as a government drone. And a creative outlet that involves food? Only my very favourite kind of outlet!
Now, I haven’t actually done any catering for a long time, but I gave that fact not a moment of thought. I reckon it’s always pretty fun to create a menu and I’m pretty confident in the kitchen so I was feeling very much ”she’ll be right mate” about the whole situation. Fast forward to the present day, when the dinner party is in a couple of weeks and I’m starting to panic. Ever so slightly. Continue reading
Lately I find myself making pot holders and giving them to my friends as presents. I don’t know why I do this, I guess it’s because I like making them and there are really only so many pot holders that one can use – so it seems that the best thing to do when you have an abundance of pot holders is give them away. Continue reading
This is definitely the lazy girl’s way to blog, but there was no way that I was going to keep this little piece of awesomeness to myself. Seriously, I wish that someone would make this game for real, it would be the best thing ever. Ever.

So. It’s been a little while between posts for me, I am in fact the queen of slack. However, I offer the following excuses:
I’m currently in assignment hell. I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for this Management Diploma, I was obviously completely out of my mind. Not only is it super time-consuming, but it’s really, really boring. Enough said.
Since the hatching of my baby chicks a couple of weeks ago I have had some serious farming duties to keep me occupied when I’m not studying. Actually, even though looking after them can be a bit of work – mostly I just like watching them run around – they are so cute it’s ridiculous. Did you know that chooks can totally talk to each other? Well they can. And the mother hen has a whole range of different clucking noises that seem to mean different things to the little chicks. I could watch them all day, it’s just fascinating.
So. Today, Wednesday 7 September 2011 started out pretty great, for the following reasons:
1. I’m on leave from work*, so any day that doesn’t begin with the screeching of an alarm clock in my ear is going to be a good one.
2. I checked on my ridiculously cute 3-day-old chicks, and then had a big delicious coffee in the sunshine.
So my favourite day of every second month was last Wednesday – you guessed it, the day the latest issue of frankie magazine hit the stores. We all know how much I love frankie magazine, its old news. Continue reading
